Tanlines is Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm. This bad is really catching my ear recently. I liked the first song I heard by them (S.A.W), but I've been liking their new EP even more. This stuff is awesome and really original. It's part tin-drum-island music, part Animal Collective, part just great dance music, and then there's some stuff in there that is just original to the band. The beats are really nice, breezy, tropical stuff but with an electronic twist that reminds me a little of Memory Tapes ('cause there is a lot of synth and the music is generally "swirly"- but that's a good thing, trust me) or something but with a twist. Some of their songs are instrumental and some have very fitting vocals that I won't try to compare to anything because nothing comes to mind and ENOUGH COMPARISONS ALREADY GUYS! JEEZ!
Anyway the other cool things about this band is they will fit in on a dance party play list just as easily as a night where you just chill out and... do whatever you do when you chill out. However/whenever you play it, it will put you and everyone else in a great mood. Ok enough talk, go listen! The Ep is called Settings and it's out now.
